About Hildebrand
As a professor of microbiology and immunology at OU’s Health Sciences Center, and as chief scientist of OU spin-off company Pure Protein LLC, William Hildebrand focuses on the human immune response to virus-infected cells, cancerous cells and transplanted organs and cells. The goal of his research is to discover new targets for the prevention and treatment of infectious disease and cancer. His scientific efforts are further designed to make more people eligible for heart and kidney transplants and to increase each patient’s quality of life following transplantation.
The core technology platform developed by Hildebrand allows the production of large quantities of immune surveillance proteins, provides insight into the inner workings of diseased cells, and offers a unique toolset for evaluating and improving vaccines as well as reducing unwanted allergic reactions from bio-therapeutics. Pure Protein has now created diagnostic kits for tissue typing and antibody screening, assays utilized for the $200 million organ transplant test kit market. Pure Protein’s newer technologies are being applied for the identification of new cancer and viral vaccine targets and for validating existing vaccine targets owned by others.
